We have opened the call for the international solo competition in the field of broadly understood contemporary dance - SOLO DANCE CONTEST 2024, organized by the Gdańsk ŻAK Club.

We invite dancers with documented artistic achievements or certified dancers to participate. The deadline for submitting applications is May 17, 2024, at 11 p.m. (note: based on the date and time of receipt of the application).

Only autonomous solos that premiered/will premiere between January 1, 2023, and Mau 03, 2024 can be submitted to the competition. The required length of the solo is between 5 and 20 minutes. The competition aims to support dancers and to promote broadly understood contemporary dance (contemporary dance / contemporary ballet).

The submitted solos will be shortlisted by the pre-selection committee, and we will invite selected solos to the main competition. During the main competition, the Jury composed of artists and experts in the field of contemporary dance will award prizes to the authors of the best performences. The prize pool is EUR 6,000, including EUR 500 for the Audience Award.

The competition will be held as part of the 16th Gdańsk Dance Festival on August 26 - 30, 2024 at the Żak Club and it will be its 13th edition (until 2011 it was held under the name Baltic Movement Contest).

The competition is organized by Klub Żak - a municipal cultural institution based in Gdańsk, one of the oldest cultural centers in Poland. Klub Żak is the organizer of international festivals: New Music Days, Jazz Jantar Festival and the Gdańsk Dance Festival.
