Gdansk Dance Festival is the largest dance event in northern Poland, recognizable in Europe, promoting contemporary dance and dance theater. In addition to the main program presenting the most interesting performances from abroad, throughout the year there are shows by Polish and local artists and artistic residencies.

Main programme in September consists of 10 days of dance - performances and Solo Dance Contest / Platform, that brings together dancers to share their creativity, ideas and energy, being together for five days. The program is open to both stars of the European dance scene and young, emerging talents. The Gdańsk Dance Festival is primarily a meeting of dancers and choreographers, bringing together local, national and international dance community to talk about art and exchange inspiration. It is known for its homely atmosphere and great organization.

The first edition took place in 2009, but Klub Żak, the organizer of the Festival, has been supporting and promoting artists for over 60 years. The Festival offers also masterclass for professional dancers, aftertalks and feedback aimed at improving competences and exchanging artistic visions of both dancers and viewers.

The festival is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the City of Gdańsk.
